About Me & My Blog

“Be Kind: Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about” -Plato

Hello. Hi. Hey. Bonjour. Ciao. Salut. ¡Hola! Kon’nichiwa. Marhaba. Olá.

or as my fellow Texans would say, Howdy Ya’ll!

I’m Ashley, a 26-year-old from eastern Kentucky, currently residing in Texas. I moved to Texas in 2010, and lived in Colorado for a year & a half before I moved here; that wonderful state will always have a special place in my heart. More about why I moved later, if you’re curious.

I am also a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a wife, a mother, a dog mom, a friend, a Virgo, a dancer, a traveler, a sightseer, an opportunist, a book worm, a crazy Kentucky Wildcats fan (seriously I don’t play around when it’s game-time), a scrap-booker (with a slight hoarding problem), a college student, a teacher (in the making), an entrepreneur, a people-person, a hard-worker, a believer, a dreamer, a country girl, a health & fitness fiend, a lover of cookie dough (yes I go against the label; I eat it raw) AND now an attempted writer/blogger.

I have a HUGE passion for travel, sightseeing, a good challenge, and documenting it ALL along the way. I love to take on a new challenge; I think it helps build a stronger you. The right challenge can really CHANGE everything you thought you knew about yourself. I discovered this when I decided to audition for a Pro dance league, more on that journey later. That said, I’m really just TRYING to live life to the absolute fullest, in attempts to take every opportunity within reach –funds allowed that is. I did NOT win the Powerball (bummer, I know) so I’m still just a normal gal, living paycheck to paycheck just like 76% of Americans. Although it can seem tough at times, I refuse to complain because I feel VERY humbled & blessed (more than I deserve) that I have been given the opportunities that some may never see. That harsh reality deeply saddens me, and If I could change that & save the world of poverty, that’d be one of my wishes; please grant thine wish genie?!

*insert puppy eyes and prayer hands here*

p.s. RIP Mr. Williams

I am married to an incredibly sweet, thoughtful, and selfless man. His name is Matt. We started our family & rescued a little beagle mix in March of 2015, the day BEFORE we found out we were going to have a baby! His full name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, but we call him “Max“.

We welcomed our first child, a beautiful baby boy, Carter Wesley, on 11/12/15. Wesley after Matt’s dad, who went to sleep with angels in November of 2013.

It’s a whole new world we’re figuring out together as first time parents, but we’re loving every single minute of it (dirty diapers, sleepless nights, Netflix binges and all).

*Kells Wesley* with Matt, and his sister Sarah.

I love life and everything it offers. Don’t be fooled however, as my goal in this blog is to be uplifting and encouraging –to talk about travel, challenges, goals, etcetera. I, too, have hard days (especially as a chronic migraine sufferer), but doesn’t everyone? We’re allowed bad days; and we’re allowed to sulk in all of our sorrows when we have those days (complete with reruns of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and a bottle of Apothic Red).

I promise not to hide behind a computer screen and present a fake “Facebook life”. I promise to try to be encouraging, but to also relate in being real, and share parts of my messy, chaotic life. I, too, have days where I need a friend to lean on, and I’m hoping you’ll allow that from time to time. I promise to return the favor and to listen when you want to talk, and if you show up in a wedding dress, I might just be in mine too. So lets be real with each other. 😉

Here’s to all my friends who love life, complete with all its ups and downs.

Let’s do this. Let us accept challenges. Let’s push ourselves. Let’s take that opportunity. Let’s push the limits. Lets let the good, the bad, & the ugly happen BUT let us help each other get through it!

Onward! CHALLENGE yourself!
